How can you get to the Cyberbohemia 3D Gallery?
The Cyberbohemia 3D Gallery is a region of (virtual) land, which is located in the virtual world of OSgrid. It is opened 24/7 for visitors.
If you like to visit us, you need to register an Avatar in OSgrid, load and install the viewer software on your PC, start the viewer and login with your Avatar that you created in OSgrid. The Avatar is your virtual "person" that you use to walk around and interact in the virtual world.
Your PC should be a modern machine with a good graphics card and a fast internet connection.
1. Register an Avatar in OSgrid
Start your internet browser and go to the website www.osgrid.org
Click on the white "Join now" field on the upper middle section of the webpage, and fill in all the fields in the registration form.
Give yourself an Avatar first and last name, enter your email adress and a password for your Avatar. Then click on the blue "Register"-button, and you will get a message if your avatar was successfully registered. If not, read the error messages and correct the errors (for example, if the Avatar name, that you have chosen, is already in use by another person).
2. Download and install the viewer software on your PC
Download the the Imprudence viewer, that you can find here or alternatively the Hippo viewer from the Hippo website. Hippo is a bit outdated, so we recommend you to use Imprudence. Install and start the viewer on your PC or Mac.
3. Login into OSgrid with your viewer
If you want to go directly to Cyberbohemia, then, after starting the viewer, klick on "Edit/Preferences" on the top of the viewer, choose the Tab "General" and check the checkbox "Show Start Location on Login Screen". Then click on "OK", and you are back in the starting screen of the viewer.
In the bottom part of the viewer, enter your Avatar first and last name and the password, that you have created in Step 1. Underneath, you can now directly enter the region, where you want to start. Please enter Cyberbohemia in this field. In the Grid listbox, select "OSgrid". Then, click on "Log in".

4. Welcome in the Cyberbohemia gallery
You will now arrive with your shiny fresh Avatar at the welcome area of Cyberbohemia. Welcome home
You can see your Avatar as a small (blue/red) person in the middle of the viewer. It will take a while for the viewer to display everything correctly, as there is a lot of graphics data that has to be transferred to your PC. A fast internet connection is highly recommended. So please be patient, and give the viewer a few minutes, before you go on exploring Cyberbohemia.
With the arrow keys on your keyboard, you can walk around on Cyberbohemia. With the "Page up/Page down" keys, you can fly up and down, and with your mouse cursor, you can click on objects to interact with them.
Right at the welcome point, you will see the "Cyberbohemia navigation system", a slowly rotating obelisk. By clicking on one of the pictures on the Navigation system, you will be directly teleported to the desired place or gallery. Such a navigation obelisk is located at each landing point, so you can easily jump from one place to another.
One function must be mentioned, which is very convenient and important for viewing pictures: the built-in camera. If you want to have a closer look at a picture or an object, you can use the camera function. First, move your mousepointer over the object that you want to inspect closer. Then, press the "Alt" key on your keyboard (keep it pressed), and click the left button of your mouse (keep it clicked). You can now see the cursor symbol on your screen change to a magnifying glass. Then, simply start to move your mouse (while keeping the buttons pressed and clicked), and your view will follow your mouse movement. This way, you can easily zoom in and out every object. It takes some practise to get used to the camera, but its a great way to look freely around.
By pressing the "Esc"-key on your keyboard, you leave the camera view, and return to the normal avatar view.
There is much to say and much to learn about the navigation and living in virtual worlds. Sometimes its very easy, sometimes it can be tricky. Its too much to tell everything here in the blog. We try to make everything as userfriendly and easy as possible. Please let us know, if you find something, that can be improved.
Usually, we are inworld, and usually, if we see new avatars at the welcome point, we will welcome you personally. Just look around for one of the Cyberbohemians.
If there is nobody around who can help you, and you like to have personal assistance, or if you like to have a personal guided tour through the Cyberbohemia galleries, don't hesitate to send us a mail to webmaster (at) cyberbohemia (dot) net. We will get into contact with you as quickly as possible, and arrange your personal tour.
